Fancy a perfect day out for all the family? Visit the Bellingham Show & Country Festival (26th August) in the heart of the Northumberland countryside and enjoy all the things you’d expect from such a traditional event – including children’s rides, crafts, dog show, live bands, terrier racing, vintage vehicles, beer tent, archery, wrestling, food stalls and much more.

Are you a bit of a pro when it comes to building bonfires? Then this event could be right up your street! Volcano Night is a charity bonfire competition that takes place each year on Alnmouth Beach.

Teams of up to ten adults and children bring shovels, wood and matches and are allocated a spot on the beach. First fifteen minutes, the teams each build a sandcastle, then they build a bonfire atop the sandcastle. After all the bonfires are lit, everyone retires to watch, often with a picnic, and the last fire to be put out by the incoming tide is the winner. Contact the River Aln Boat Club to reserve your place at the event on 26th August.

The Great North Bike Ride takes place on Sunday 27th August, starting 9am at Seahouses car park and ending at Tynemouth Priory, a charity cycle ride through 60 miles of beautiful Northumbrian coastline. Cycle at your own pace! It’s not a race. Entry fee must be pre-booked.
