Buttercup is a traditional Danish Log Cabin, set in a Beautiful Forest Glade

Buttercup is a fabulous Danish Log Cabin which can be found in an idyllic farm location in a stunning forest glade.  There is a river running through which has fishing rights, for a small charge.

The Log Cabin itself sleeps up to 5 guests in two bedrooms, both en-suite.  One is a double and the other has a twin and bunk beds.  An ideal family escape into the countryside.   They are furnished to a high standard, providing you with a touch of luxury with a cozy feel.  Built out of Danish Pine, and fully heated, they are comfortable and warm providing the perfect holiday base all year round.

To get to this fabulous Danish Log Cabin,  you travel through farmland and an ancient battle site.  Once there you are within walking distance (about 1.5 miles) to the pretty little village of Winston, where you will find a lovely local pub serving fabulous food and real ales.

Surrounded by beautiful countryside and an abundance of wildlife, you will enjoy wandering around the delightful walking trails, or simply sitting on your terrace taking in the beauty of your surroundings.

If history is your thing, then Piearcebridge is close by, which is the site of many Roman excavations and you have castles such as Raby castle a very short drive away, to explore at your leisure.

There is a lovely market town, Barnard Castle, County Durham, a few miles away, where you will find some beautiful restaurants, cafe’s and pubs, as well as lovely local shops selling everything from antiques to pictures and paintings.

The area itself offers a wide range of activities including, fishing on your own stretch of private river, clay pigeon shooting, Golf, horse riding, off-road driving, walking trails and cycling.   Or, if you just want to find somewhere to relax, with the odd walk, you could wish for nothing more.

For larger parties you might like to book all three cabins and have the area to yourselves.  They are called Cowslip and Snowdrop.

Teesdale is home to Raby Castle, a 14th Century castle which has been the home to Lord Barnard’s family since 1626.  You can take a guided tour and marvel at the outstanding collections of art, see the workings of a medieval kitchen, or simply wander around the beautiful walled garden and coach house.  There is an outdoor play area for the children where they can see how many deer they can count in the 200 acre deer park.
