Chestnut - Northumberland

Occupancy: 4 guests
Bedrooms: 2
Bathrooms: 1

Chestnut is a Heidi style log chalet, set in the quiet grounds of Felmoor Country Park in Northumberland, with lakeside views - it is the perfect place to escape. With it's own hot tub, you won't want to venture far, but if you do there is loads to do and see in Northumberland.

It's a two bedroom chalet style cabin - you walk out the front door onto your terrace where you will also find your hot tub. Both have lakeside views, making it the perfect place to kick back and watch the world go by, in tranquil surroundings.

Inside you have a beautiful wooden appearance, with a wonderful feeling of peace as you walk through the door. There are high Cathedral style ceilings, two bedrooms (1 double, 1 twin), a family bathroom with shower and fully fitted kitchen. The open plan living space makes a perfect place to come together.

If you fancy a meal out, then there are some amazing restaurants not far (within a few miles) and we would be happy to recommend some for you. There is also a small clubhouse/cafe on site, perfect for when you simply want someone else to do the cooking. (Opening times depend on the time of year you visit).

It's ideal if you are looking for a great place from which to explore Northumberland, yet still have luxury surroundings and somewhere to relax after your busy days out.

It has its own parking and is fully fitted for a comfortable holiday. There is plenty to do and see in the area and there is wildlife surrounding the cabin, so it's a real country retreat.

The closest beach is just five miles away and has the most amazing golden sand and sand dunes for the children to explore. There are magnificent castles, quaint little towns and villages and of course the home of Harry Potter, Alnwick Castle.

Beautiful setting on the lakeside enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub. Comfortable beds and was very clean however seemed smaller inside than the photos. Gave up with the Wifi as it didn't really work. Also hot water was intermittent.

We had another lovely weekend in one of your lodges. Only thing to mention is that this time the hot tub was not very clean which did put me off going in as much. We do have one at home so understand the water level etc and there was too much residue and scale around the sides from the moment we arrived. When cleaning them Monday I noticed the filters they were cleaning were very dirty and could do with being replaced I think. Would not put me off booking the lodge however. Hemera were fantastic again.

Loved staying at Chestnut lodge for a long weekend. Communication before our stay was brilliant and arrival instructions v detailed. Really nice extra touches like really good Bluetooth speakers. Very clean lodge and hot tub (which was serviced every day!).

We found that the directions not very helpful as we was travelling south to north. We had to ring the office. More information was needed. Hardly any hand soap I had to water dispenser. Only 2 toilet rolls an extra one would be a plus. Outside porch area hadn’t been swept large piles of dust and leaves. No information for cooker & microwave. Freezer needs defrosting. Walls indoors needed dusting. Window in twin bedroom wouldn’t lock.

We are a family of 4 with a dog and booked this lodge as break away! What an amazing time we had! The lodge was clean tidy and well organised. Greeted with a bottle of bubbly on arrival with crisps and snacks too! The Personal touch was lovely. Hot tub was always a bonus and even more so with a view of the lake. Some constructive feedback that didn't affect our stay and didnt make a negative impact on our stay either. There was a dining room chair that was broken, the outside of the cabin was covered in cobwebs and when u compare this to other surrounding cabins they weren't like that. It just meant having a meal outside wasn't too pleasant. Especially if you have a fear of spiders. Understandably this is natural due to the type of environment we stayed in. Also I believe there may be a bee/wasps nest under the decking next to hot tub stairs. Thank you for a wonderful holiday and wonderful service. And thank you for our early check in.

Felmoor visit May 2022 by Keith White

First visit to Felmoor Park, location is ideal and the park small and quiet. This is the fourth time I’ve booked a dog friendly lodge plus hot tub through Hemera. Service and information is always great. The location of chestnut lodge is perfect overlooking the lake. However, very disappointed with the condition and cleanliness of the lodge compared to all the others I’ve stayed in. The kitchen is in need of a refit and there is a shortage of cupboard space. Shower cubicle is in need of replacement. A number of the glasses and utensils were damaged. Discarded fencing and mats outside the lodge. Multiple cobwebs inside and outside the lodge that clearly hadn’t been removed in a long time. Paths hadn’t been weeded in a while. Outside table was dirty and we had to clean that and the outside decking before we could use. High chair, ironing board, Hoover and Xmas tree all cluttering up the main bedroom. Kitchen table and sofa showing signs of wear. Real shame but the place gave the feel that it was tired and neglected.

Nice, relaxing stay. by Guest

The cabin itself was lovely, beds comfortable, nice comfy sofas and a nice big dining table. The only downside to our stay was the cleanliness in parts of the cabin which is such a shame. The outside area was quite untidy and the outside table was very dirty. I spent the first hour of my weekend washing all of the dishes out of the cupboards as they were not clean and the windows were splattered with mud and marks. I think I could accept these things a little more if it was a budget cabin but it isn’t and paid a lot of money to stay here! The booking process was fab and very easy and will definitely use them again but maybe stay in a different place.

Great place for weekend Chill Out but for a Week Long Family Holiday would not recommend by Brian Duckers

Great place for a relaxing weekend with friends but would not recommend for a week long family holiday as there is simply not enough things to do either on site or locally other than visiting castles or walking. The site team were great in all aspects but the Crazy Horse Saloon advertised as the centres hub was empty when we visited on a Monday evening at 10.00pm and we were told that last orders had been called. We had booked for 7 nights at considerable cost and left after only 4 nights.

we enjoyed our stay at Chestnut lodge, however there were a few things which we found were not up to standard for the cost of the lodge, the shower drainage only allowed you to have a 2 minute shower as the tray filled very fast and took a good while after to drain away. Also the kitchen was not adequate, we had to go and buy a serving dish, a jug and a tray for the oven, there was only one glass dish in for all the needs for the oven. We had took everything else we needed however we thought the kitchen would be well provided as the lodge is for a family of 4. We did ask about the hot tub as on the first day it was quite cool, the team dealt with this very promptly and the rest of the stay was lovely.

As soon as we arrived at the country park it had a really nice feel which was friendly and welcoming and upon arriving at chestnut with its Christmas tree lit up and it’s decorations along with its homely warmth we knew we’d made the right choice.Even though we didn’t drink the Prosecco from the welcome package we did think it was a lovely gesture. The hot tub was a real winner with us all and we thought chestnut log cabin style was great.

So much potential by Chris Groom

The lodge is of an acceptable standard, and the price does reflect that, however compared to others I have stayed in on Felmoor I was a little disappointed. It’s such a shame as the lodge has so much potential. Especially as some of the points below have been mentioned on previous reviews and not rectified. Hot tub NOT ready to use despite a 4pm check in! Pub on site was not serving food on a Monday, despite it being a check in day and also being school holidays. Lots of cobwebs inside and out. Broken hot tub cover pieces on the grass in front of the cabin (I moved them to the side). Outside and inside of the kitchen cupboards need a good scrub. Random bits of Christmas decorations in the wardrobe drawer. Very worn and wobbly dining chairs. Glassware and dinnerware not matching. The TV is flat screen but is small and dated with a button missing off the remote. On a positive note the beds were comfortable, linen and towels very clean. Also the sofas appeared to be new and were also comfortable. The location is fantastic, and the view of the lake is lovely.

Nice stay in August with the hubby, two boys and our dog. Good facilities on site - park and two pubs. Very family orientated. The lodge could definitely have been cleaner, likewise the hot tub. Levels were checked but nothing was cleaned (we have a hot tub at home). Overall though a restful and peaceful stay.
